Chiropractic care for children

Many parents are surprised to learn that chiropractic care can be gentle and helpful for children. Pediatric chiropractic focuses on supporting the healthy development of the nervous system and on how well a growing spine moves.

The adjustments used for younger patients are much gentler than those used for adults. Dr. Harders is experienced in adapting his techniques to patients of every size and age. For an infant that means light, sustained fingertip pressure, with no twisting and no popping. A parent is always in the room.

Children pick up plenty of bumps and strains from sports, backpacks, growth spurts and long hours bent over screens. A child who complains of back or neck pain deserves a proper exam, because young bodies are still growing and not every ache is a simple strain.

Concerns families bring to us

Families come to Halsey Chiropractic with a range of concerns. Dr. Harders will talk through your child’s history and tell you honestly whether chiropractic care is a good fit. It is meant to work alongside your pediatrician, not to replace medical care.

Prenatal chiropractic care

Pregnancy changes the way the body carries weight. As the baby grows, the pelvis and lower back take on new loads, and many expecting mothers feel it in their hips, lower back and sleep. Prenatal care at Halsey Chiropractic uses positioning and gentle technique adapted to each stage of pregnancy.

Please tell us how far along you are when you book, and share any pregnancy complications. We encourage you to keep your obstetric provider informed about your chiropractic care.

Care for parents and grandparents

Family care does not stop with the kids. Parents carry children, car seats and long work days, and grandparents often deal with the stiffness that comes with age. Our adjustments for back and neck pain help adults of every age stay active, and older patients with disc problems may benefit from gentle spinal decompression. If someone in the family was hurt in a wreck, see our auto injury care page.

A hometown practice that treats you like family

The legacy of Halsey Chiropractic is built on community. For decades Tulsa families have trusted this practice, and that tradition continues under Dr. Harders. Choosing a provider for your child or an aging parent takes trust, and we do not take that lightly.

Our goal is to be a steady, caring presence in your family’s health, supporting recovery and helping every generation in your home live and move better. FAQ

Questions parents ask

Is chiropractic care safe for children?

Chiropractic care for children uses much gentler techniques than adult care. Dr. Harders adapts the pressure and method to the size and age of the patient, and a parent stays in the room. Pediatric chiropractic does not replace your child’s pediatrician, and a child with a fever or signs of infection should see their doctor.

What age can a child start chiropractic care?

We see patients of all ages, from newborns and toddlers to teenagers. The technique for a baby is very light and nothing like an adult adjustment.

Can I see a chiropractor while pregnant?

Yes. Prenatal care and wellness is part of our family practice, with positioning and technique adapted to your stage of pregnancy. Tell us how far along you are when you book, and keep your obstetric provider informed.

Can the whole family be seen at the same visit?

Many families book back to back appointments so everyone is seen in one trip. Call the office and we will help you find times that work.
